Art Tip 129: Oil Paintings – Cleaning with CautionIf must do it all by yourself, clean oil paintings using a VERY clean cloth, some cotton buds and a solution of MILD dish soap and warm water in a spray bottle. Lightly spray the oil painting with the solution and wipe it lightly but thoroughly with the clean cloth. Ensure that no water is left to settle on any cracks. Otherwise, the water will ‘settle’ and completely ruin your painting. A real bummer especially id it’s a family heirloom. Written by: Anthony Recto |
