Winter Family Portraits and the Cozy Fireplace

Winter family portraits are great to hang in the living room for all to admire but please do not place them above a fireplace. Like all paintings, changes in room temperature contribute to a family painting's rapid deterioration.

Actually, anywhere near a fireplace is probably one of the worst places to hang a painting because of the changing temperatures caused by the chimney and the fireplace itself. So if you value that painting, keep it away from your fireplace.
