Buying Paintings of Famous Artists

Just because it is a painting from a famous artist does not mean it is a great buy. It is important to note when a particular painting was painted by the famous artist. In general, an early piece made by an artist displays tight workmanship. A painting created during his mid-life is usually energetic, while one made later in life is a bit sloppy. So it is not always the artist's name, but also how he executed the painting.
