Art Tip 51:
Consider How Paintings are Prepared
We've all heard that paintings should be kept
out of the sun when displayed and placed in acid-free paper when stored. But
this is just preserving the painting AFTER you've purchased it. The
condition of the painting just before you bought it equally matters. Thus,
when purchasing paintings, check the quality of the paint, linen and canvas
used. Has the canvas been stretched too much over a wooden frame that
there's tension? On the other, hand if the painting you wish to purchase
is on paper, did the framer use acid-free mounts? Written by: Rhea Nievera |
