Abstract Art Galleries - A Way to Learn about Abstract Art

Abstract art galleries are a good place to go to if you wish to study abstract paintings on a more hands-on and in-depth manner. If possible, find an abstract art gallery that features various forms of abstract art, ranging from Cubism, Neoplasticism and Abstract Expressionism.

By definition, abstract art is a way of representing a form or object but not in an accurate manner. This can be done by representing color, shape and form differently.

Cubism emphasizes on light and color, inspired by Paul Cezanne's statement, "Everything in nature takes its form from the sphere, the cone and the cylinder." Thus, these are the three shapes used to represent the object of this kind of abstract art.

Meanwhile, Neoplasticism focuses on vertical and horizontal lines, as well as primary colors. It is the belief that art should not be a mere reproduction of real objects.

And lastly, the Expressionist form of abstract art is a more spontaneous style of painting through which an artist is able to show his or her personality. As such, most art work of this kind is not a painting of an object per se but a study in color and brush stroke. In addition, this type of abstract art is further broken down into two styles – Action Painting and Color Field Painting.

These two styles do not dictate the process by which the artist creates his or her abstract masterpiece. Instead, they actually describe the style the artist used. While Action Painting strives to display paint texture the artist's movements, Color Field Painting is for the artist whose concern is exclusively the shape and color.

To know more about the similarities and differences of these kinds of abstract art, visit abstract art galleries that have a wide collection of abstract masterpieces. This is also a good way of learning how to identify abstract paintings against other styles.
