Paintings Woman - Conquering the Canvas

The female form has been (and perhaps always will be) one of the most predominant themes in paintings woman does exude so many characters, feelings and emotions that it is not really hard to imagine why women have conquered the canvas for so long. Da Vinci's Madonna on the Rocks, Amorsolo's famous paintings of women on the rice field toiling, and Boticelli's Birth of Venus are fine examples of the female form.

Have you ever heard of the Tretchikoff book of art prints? If not, then search now and purchase at least one of his art prints online. Vladimir Tretchikoff is considered to be one of the most commercially successful artists of all time and is quite known for his Oriental- or Asian-themed paintings. Undoubtedly, his most famous painting is... yes, you guessed it right, a woman. A Chinese woman to be exact; Tretchikoff's Chinese Lady is considered the best-selling commercial print of all time.

Women and Paintings - They Just Go Together

Women are fantastic creatures that I guess having their essence captured on canvas to adorn galleries, museums and our homes can only be a form of tribute. Of course, there are also many women paintings that tend to be quite offensive for some people's tastes as they seem to degrade women but all of these should be taken into perspective. One cannot expect only the GREAT things to be depicted all the time right?

Suffice it to say that so long as there is art who wishes to imitate life, women will be staying on the canvas for quite a long time.
