Renoir Paintings - Apart from the Rest

Renoir paintings are known for their vibrant colors and light, plus the use of lines in harmony. But as an impressionist, Pierre-Auguste Renoir created his own styles and techniques, separating his works from the rest.

Renoir art works, as in most impressionist works, have the French landscape at its subject. But Renoir, taking a step further also painted people in rather intimate and candid masterpieces still using the impressionist style.

Pierre-Auguste Renoir, whose drawing talents were first applied on designing china in a porcelain factory when he was just a boy, used to visit the Louvre to study the French master painters.

Early Renoir art works reflected influences of Eug ne Delacroix and Claude Monet, a close friend of his and with whom he later discovered that the color of shadows is the reflected of the objects around them, contrary to what others thought to be black and brown.

One of the most famous Renoir artworks is the Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette (Le Bal au Moulin de la Galette) in 1876. This impressionist work depicts an open-air scene will lots of people from Butte Montmartre, a popular dance garden near where he lived. In 1990, this Renoir painting was sold for a $78.1M.

Pierre-Auguste Renoir died in December 3, 1919, leaving the world with thousands of magnificent Renoir masterpieces and a legacy of creativity and dedication to the arts.
