Jazz Paintings - A Cultural Heritage

Jazz paintings go beyond just art; they may range from the depiction of the peak of jazz music, portraits of jazz artists and musicians, scenes from a jazz club or masterpieces created by artists who get their inspiration from listening to jazz music. Beautifully mounted on New Orleans picture frames, having a piece of this soulful art form is a true experience of jazz – not only as a musical genre, but as a way of life.

Jazz, the music genre was said to have originated based on the lifestyle of African-Americans. It was somewhat controversial when it began in various regions of the US, including New Orleans, as it was perceived to suggest loose morals and low social status.

According to jazz musicians, jazz should be felt and is thus difficult to define. It seems that the same holds true for creating a jazz painting – it should also be felt. And as in any other masterpiece, a jazz painting intends to tell a story – how they were then, the greatness of a musical legend, or simply the emotions conveyed by the music. In this way, the artist is able to make us feel what he possibly felt and it's up to us how we'll interpret it, making it a truly human experience.

So if you want art that is both alive and about life, jazz art works are for you. Words such as rich and colorful not only describe the actual painting per se but the subject being depicted as well.
