South western oil paintings are paintings depicting the great American Southwest. Many of these oil paintings are contemporary and depict the history of Native Americans.
Most paintings are of nature such as desert scenes, landscapes, wildlife, and people. A large number of south western paintings are also spiritual in nature due to the many Indians who resided in the Southwest.
Aside from paintings, south western art also includes jewellery making and basket weaving. All of these works of art reflect life in the south west such as in Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado.
