Dog Drawings : Tips and Techniques
|
Dog drawings and other pet portraits are rewarding but are also hard work. It's impossible to get a pet dog to sit still while you work on the drawing .
However, there are things you can do to make drawing your pet dog easier.
Following are some tips and techniques for making drawing a dog a bit easier.
Tip no. 1:
You already know that dogs can't stand still for hours. So just make quick sketches or better yet, base your drawing on a picture you've take of your dog .
Tip no. 2:
Each dog breed has its own characteristics. For example, a Pekinese has a short nose and a poodle has curly hair. Getting to know a specific breed will make drawing an individual dog easier.
Tip no. 3:
A common dog drawing error is the color of the eyes. Most people just put in brown eyes and even though they ARE indeed the most common dog eye color, it would be nice to take the extra effort of finding out a dog's real eye color (especially if you've been commissioned to create the dog drawing ).
Tip no. 4:
Legs are the hardest to draw . Reference pictures are useful to make sure you draw the legs of a running dog correctly.
