Horses are a very popular subject in American art. Do you want to try your hand at it? Below is a step-by-step guide on how to draw a horse . You can use any artwork medium you wish.
Step 1:
Get your favorite horse picture from a book or magazine and enlarge this (use a scanner). The enlarged picture will serve as your subject.
Step 2:
Draw a circle or oblong for the head, sketch a neck, a bigger circle for the body, and lines for the horse legs.
Step 3:
Draw circles for the smaller parts of the horse such as the ears, shoulders, knees and hooves.
Step 4:
To give the horse shape some detail, start sketching around the circles and lines.
Step 5:
If you like the shape of the horse , start to erase any lines you don't need. You can also start adding detail to the face of the horse . In this step you can add details to the horse such as the eyes, mouth and nostrils.
Step 6:
When your horse is completed, give your horse some oomph! You can add a patch to the eyes of the horse . Your horse can have a saddle. The mane and tail of the horse may also be added. Coloring the horse can also be done.
Step 7:
Finally, look at your finished horse drawing from all angles. It will help you spot any wrong angles.
