Decorating walls is one of the last things one does when settling into a new home. But when one finally does so, the use of wood picture frames to accentuate our photographs is one endeavor we really spend time on.
I guess that's because pictures, be it of family, friends or known artworks, hold special meaning to us and so merely putting them in any frame and hanging them just doesn't seem right.
Most people opt for wood when selecting picture frames. But don't just grab the first wooden frame you see, be guided by the following:
Step one:
ALWAYS keep the actual photograph you will be framing and where you plan to hang this in mind.
Remember that a good picture deserves the right frame as a bad one will actually cheapen the look of the photograph and, consequently, the room where the picture is hanged.
Step Two:
Go and pay a visit to a local museum and get a feel of the wooden frames they use.
This is especially useful if you're going to be pairing or grouping several pictures. At the very least, you'll get a feeling of the impact' such frames have on which type of picture.
Step Three:
When it's time to hang your picture, remember that in general, picture frames should be displayed at eye level. Of course, this rule can be modified depending on the size of the frame and how many you will be hanging in one area.
