There is so many information online on how to make picture frames that one would surely be confused about where to start.
But when building a photo frame for the first time, go for the basics first. It wouldn't be wise to embark on a spending spree on various tools if you've never done any framing before or only intend to frame one photograph.
Framing Tips for the Beginner
Even if you intend to get into photo framing full time later on, starting with the basics never hurts. This way, you build expertise without burning your pocket.
Step One:
Start small. Don't build a frame for that special family photograph just yet. Build frames for smaller pictures first or for pictures that can easily be replaced (you still have the negatives right?).
Step Two:
Start with some basic frame tools. For the simplest tasks, a saw and a square are good enough. Some additional (and very handy) tools worth purchasing are a miter box or trimmer and a disk sander.
Step Three:
If you really don't know where to start, buy a framing kit. These too are available online. They come in a handy case' and usually contain a saw guide and corner clamp, a V nail insertion tool, a flex tab tool, and more!
Don't be in a hurry. Don't buy from the first online framing store you see. Check out some sites first and build your knowledge. You'll be able to frame that precious photograph soon enough!
