Sometimes, it seems quite an unenviable task to judge abstract arts, styles or techniques.
Many see the definition of the conceptual piece to be of the “weird type” and being without any unifying characteristics to other paintings of the same genre.
Although this may even serve as an approximation of what is an abstract piece, there are still numerous facets or characteristics that may have been overlooked by some, if not most people.
To be fair, it IS hard to discern what conceptual artworks are all about simply because much is based on how' the artist sees its object which in turn may be a vision far from reality or what the object represents.
Conceptual renditions, made famous by artists such as Jackson Pollock, are still sometimes the subject of criticism and close scrutiny.
For some people, however, the sale of a conceptual piece with a hefty price tag attests to the beauty and uniqueness of conceptual or non-representational artworks.
It is true that conceptual pieces may possess characteristics that are unlike any of the masterpieces known all over the world.
However, our judgments may be affected by our prejudices borne out of having a standard definition of beauty set by society, like having excessively thin bodies being the most desirable.
Still, what ever school of artworks thought comes; conceptual artworks are here to stay. And looking back from our current viewpoint, I guess that weird needs a new definition.
