It would not be easy to enumerate the contributions that many famous European artists have contributed to the development of conceptual art and it will even be harder to list down all the awarded and renowned abstract artists UK has.

There just seems to be an overflowing amount of talent within that European country.

Abstract artworks are all about form, color and the artist trying to reach out to the spectator and it seems that the European artist have indeed taken this to heart.

Following is a short list of the most recognized conceptual artists in the UK.

1. Paule Vezelay she is known as the first English woman abstract artist. Paule was one of the first English artists to devote herself to the conceptual movement, producing her first abstract painting in 1928.

Fourteen of her great artworks are now part of the collection of the Tate Gallery in London. She passed away in 1984.

2. Sharon Naomi Gee This English artist believes that the five senses sight, sound, touch, taste and smell and an enormous awareness of the grandeur of nature makes for strong artworks and emotions.

Her first artworks exhibition took place in the UK in 1998 and already some of her artworks are on the private collection of some of the most recognized people in the world.

(Her White Lace is currently part of the private collection of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.)

3. Patrick Heron He is said to be one of the half dozen important English painters of the twentieth century.

He was one of the first champions of the Abstract Expressionists movement in England and is also recognized for coining the term Art is Autonomous'.
