Taking family portraits are an important way of keeping memories of your family together. Portraits are framed for your home and sometimes given away as Christmas cards.
Portraits of your family include your father, mother, brother, sister, husband, wife, baby grandparents, kids, and even in-laws. A man and a woman with no children might even include their pet in a family portrait.
These portraits are not always taken in studios anymore. Portraits can be taken in different locations such as the beach, your home or any outdoor location.
Below are guidelines and tips on how to take good portraits of your family.
Step no. 1: Get in touch with a photographer whose portraits you've seen and liked. If you don't come across a photographer you like, get suggestions from friends.
Step no 2: The photographer should take portraits in places you love. Portraits can be taken at the beach, a lake, or in your garden or backyard. Be sure that grandparents don't have a hard time with the location you choose.
Step no. 3: You can also take your own portraits at home, on vacation, or at a local landmark. Even if you don't have experience with portraits, automatic cameras make it easy to take good pictures.
Step no. 4: When taking portraits, your camera should be set on a tripod or on a stable table or wall.
Step no. 5: Gather family members such as you father, mother, brother and sister in front of you and be the director. Move everyone around until they are grouped the way you like. Hey, make sure you have a spot for yourself!
Step no. 6: Set the automatic timer on your camera and join the group to take the picture.
