The making of Marcelino Herranz portraits
In 1994, Marcelino Herranz decided to take painting a step further by making painting a way of life for him. By contacting painting teachers in Barcelona he scheduled lessons with them to learn how to paint.
His teacher was Manuel Sanchez Almendros. Almendros told Herranz that when you paint, you must tell what you like and not to be afraid because the viewpoint is a personal one. He taught that you must watch, think and paint and color as you like.
Marcelino Herranz's paintings touch on a wide range of themes. Herranz has consistently produced original paintings since 1997.
When Marcelino Herranz paints, he thinks of what he'd like to say. He looks for an image in his mind and thinks of the matter and the perspective and the light.
He then draws and takes photographs. The images are stored in his computer in black and white then Herranz will paint freely as the colors come to him.
Marcelino Herranz had his first art exhibition in the town where he was born on September 2002. It was a 15-day, twenty-four art painting exhibit.
