I'm pretty sure that most people are familiar with horse paintings . Personally, I could vividly remember one with a cowboy on top of a young, powerful stallion in the middle of a ranch , followed by a mare, colt and pony.
A real southwest image! It was indeed a beautiful sight, as one could easily see the mutual respect which existed between man and animal.
These animal paintings could be of any horse, be it a stallion, mare, colt or pony, and may be able to capture the characteristics of each type.
A painting of a stallion or colt may show strong-spiritedness, power and a strong compulsion for freedom. A mare or pony on the other hand, may exhibit simple beauty, discipline and a willingness to obey.
Thus, it would not be surprising to see a young bachelor having the picture of a stallion or colt, while a young lady may opt for the drawing of a mare or pony, since they may possess the same traits as the creatures on the canvas.
It is good to note the fine details in these paintings such as the muscles on the horses' legs, the fine brush strokes used for the mane and tail, as well as the proper use of colors.
A more beautiful detail however, is that these paintings may help more people to appreciate the horse for what it truly is: a loyal, noble creature.
