Art Tip 123: Cat Paintings in Children's Rooms
Do your kids like cats just like you? Then place cat paintings in their bedrooms. However, Don't hang an overly ornate or complicated cat painting in their room. The objective is not to make them analyze it but to make them feel as nice, soft, cuddly and as safe as the cats in the pictures.

Art Tip 125: Preparing for Self Portraits
Self portraits can be a real treat to do so relax and don't stress yourself out over it. Remember, it's hard to disguise fatigue and stress so you definitely do not want this reflected on your self portrait. Furthermore, this is NOT the time to have wrinkles!
Start early so you don't cram your schedule. Find a photographer first and conceptualize with him or her before you start venturing off on your own and thinking of this or that pose.
Art Tip 126: Self Portraits for the Bedroom
Self portraits are no longer limited to the very austere poses our grandparents had to do so they end up with respectable' portraits.
One of the best ideas I've encountered is to have semi-self portraits made for the bedroom. For instance, in a studio, have paintings or professionals photos taken of say, just half your face (as if peeking from door) or just a side profile. Even just your eyes or your lips is also a great idea. Then arrange all these in one group in your bedroom!
Art Tip 127: Self Portraits - Choose an Artist you Trust
When it comes to self portraits, it is extremely important to work with an artist that you trust AND are comfortable with. It really does not matter if the artist is known or considered great'. If you cannot be comfortable, this will show on your face (one way or the other) and the portrait will not turn out as nice as you want it to be.
It is best to work with an artist that you either know or is highly recommended by a relative or friend.
Art Tip 128: Self Portraits - Talking about Body Parts
Many people still think that a self portrait only means a painting of your face or your whole person in an austere pose. Self portraits can mean many things but basically as long as it pertains to YOU in the painting or photograph then it's self portrait.
For instance, say take a picture of your hands (yes, just your hands) while peeling an apple, this is already a self portrait. You can do this to show your profession too. For example, hold a camera and pose as if your hands are taking shots to show that you are a photographer.
Art Tip 129: Oil Paintings Cleaning with Caution
If must do it all by yourself, clean oil paintings using a VERY clean cloth, some cotton buds and a solution of MILD dish soap and warm water in a spray bottle.
Lightly spray the oil painting with the solution and wipe it lightly but thoroughly with the clean cloth. Ensure that no water is left to settle on any cracks. Otherwise, the water will settle' and completely ruin your painting. A real bummer especially id it's a family heirloom.
Art Tip 130: Oil Paintings Using Wax of Furniture Polish
Many of us would like to takes things into our own hands. If you feel the same about your oil paintings, then ensure that you take every precaution when cleaning them such as using clean cloth, mild cleaning solutions, and drying them out properly.
After the cleaning process, wipe some furniture polish or wax to make the painting shine a bit. Wipe only a very thin coat and be careful if the painting has cracks.
